Summary: When Thom Anteros is arrested after breaking into the Building of Historical Records, he demands to be taken before the King. A laughable demand for anyone else, Thom’s request is granted and the King spares his life. Yet what’s to become of him is left in the hands of the one person Thom truly fears – Mickey Taenia, the King’s Hangman.

Infuriated by Thom’s refusal to reveal the whereabouts of Nate and Catherine, the Hangman sends Thom to one of the worst places in the Kingdom – the slave markets of Muntenia. It is there that Thom is bought for the Red Arena: a barbaric, gladiator-type competition where the children of convicts and other unlucky souls are forced to fight to the death.

Twenty wins is release. One loss is death.

With the help of Charles Thoreau, a fellow captive, Thom begins not only to survive, but to thrive. A master of words becomes a master of death, and Thom’s prowess in the arena frightens even him.

But death isn’t the only thing haunting Thom. As the days go by, he dreams of his brother, and the promise he cannot forget.

I will return.

Warnings: murder, abuse
Summary: Three strangers are thrust into an unexpected situation together—they awaken only to find themselves on a spaceship called the Blossom.A mysterious journey lies ahead of them; what misadventures will they experience over the next two weeks?

Review: The best aspect of this game is probably the universe. Sadly, most of it isn’t explored since the game is very short. I also felt like the romance was a bit forced at the beginning, but my curiosity kept me playing nonetheless. What bothered me the most in the game was the way jealousy was portrayed. I felt like the author validated (in my eyes already quite extreme) jealousy as a normal, inevitable expression of love and it made me feel uncomfortable. I know this is not an unusual trope in monogamy oriented works, so that might be just fine with you. The designs are neat and the characters are interesting, funny and attaching. Various endings are available (still trying to get one of them, so more warnings might apply). Additional bonuses and a guide can be bought for a few bucks. The game itself is going to be published in October 2017 as a remake under the name ‘Galaxy Girls’, which will be more mature, so if you thrive for more than fluff, maybe wait until then.

Hey guys, as some of you may remember, many a moons a go we used to do anthologies (for some good non-profit fun). It’s been a while since we’ve put anything out but this October the four of us (G, roughdrafthero, cattails and myself) thought we’d do something. It was meant to come out on Halloween but well, real life.

We all hope you enjoy this, and please feel free to feedback to the authors. A lot of effort went into this. You can find the links to the author’s preferred website at the end. Also a huge shoutout and thank you to roundaboutparker, who did the cover art and compiled the pdf.

Length: Currently has 30,000+ (ongoing, updates frequently)
Rating: Mature, might be more in future chapters
Warnings: Violence, mature rated stuff like sex, mention of drug use and minor drinking
Link: FictionPress
Summary: In a post first-contact world, 17 year old Wilf and his father struggle to survive. Fleeing NYC in search of work, Wilf falls in love with a beautiful half alien girl. He soon becomes entangled in her powerful and dominating alien father’s web of control over a small northern town. As he is increasingly involved in the violence of this new world, he is forced to chose sides.
Summary by me: Aliens invaded Earth around when Wilf was born. His mother joined the resistance that struggled against the invasion, while his father remained at home and raised Wilf up in a world that was constantly changing.
Now that they moved to a new town when aliens and humans live closely together, Wilf tries to find his place among the hierarchy of the town.
Archer, the town’s ‘leader’ and the father of Wilf’s girlfriend seems to… be very fond of Wilf.

Review: I write this recommendation mostly because I feel that this story is waaayyyy underrated for how good it is and how well written. From the first moment I started reading the very first chapter I noticed that this story may be the most original plot and topic that I’ve read in a looong while in a free fiction.
The characters, the topic itself, the writing skill, the scenes and the development are all very much there, and in a good way.

It is slightly dark and mysterious, but if you liked things like The Erlking of bergdis Valley and other supernatural-schi-fi-fantasy mature stories you will seriously like this one.

Rec: Mnevermind Trilogy

Title: Mnevermind Trilogy
Author: Jordan Castillo Price
Format: eBook series
Published/Free: Published
Length: Book One 50,000 words/Book Two 54,600 words/Book Three 62,000 words
Status: Complete
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Homophobia and verbal/emotional abuse in the workplace of a vulnerable character in the second book.
Summary: Every day, Daniel Schroeder breaks his father’s heart.

While forgetting your problems won’t solve them, it does seem like it would make life a heck of a lot easier. Daniel thought so once. Now he knows better. He and Big Dan have always been close, which makes it all the more difficult to break the daily news: the last five years were nothing like his father remembers.

They’re both professionals in the memory field—they even run their own memory palace. So shouldn’t they be able to figure out a way to overwrite the persistent false memory that’s wreaking havoc on both of their lives? Daniel thought he was holding it together, but the situation seems to be sliding out of control. Now even his own equipment has turned against him, reminding him he hasn’t had a date in ages by taunting him with flashes of an elusive man in black that only he can see.

Is it some quirk of the circuitry, or is Daniel headed down the same path to fantasy-land as his old man?

Review: I loved Jordan Castillo Price’s Psycop series, and though I generally prefer fantasy over sci fi I liked this one at least as much, mainly owing to the second main character who takes over as narrator in the second book. I don’t want to give too much away because he’s not properly introduced until well into the first book, but he wasn’t what I was expecting and it came as a pleasant surprise.
