Length: 3 chapters/?
Status: WIP
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Written in French! Dubious consent, mention of violence, mention of child abuse

Review: Since I’m the author, my opinion cannot be neutral 😉 If you can read French and you’re looking for a slave/master story with a plot that goes beyond sexual tension and is more centred around politics. Also, steampunk atmosphere, if that’s your thing.

The fate of their pack is in their hands.
But what about the fate of their hearts?

When Ray presents as an omega instead of an alpha, his life changes forever. As a male omega, he’s expected to mate with a select group of alphas and start a pack of his own.

The five men selected for him are as different as they are keen. And one of them is his best friend, Josh, who Ray was sure could never return his feelings. But now they all must deal with the mating instinct that the power of the Moon brings out in them; and after that… Ray will have bigger problems than a crush.

Can Ray become the submissive omega his pack needs him to be? Will the alphas understand how hard it is for him, or demand more than he can give?

Rec: Black Sails

Title: Black Sails
Format: TV Show
Published/Free: It’s free with a Starz subscription (so not free technically)
Length: 4 Seasons (38 episodes total)
Status: Complete
Rating: Mature to Ultra mature
Warnings: Rape (specifically in ep 3, and somewhat through s1. There is very little, if any, outside of that season after), major character death, a graphic keelhauling scene, blood, action violence.
Link: on Starz. also hulu (s1-3)
Summary: This is a prequel to Treasure Island and is set in Nassau during the golden age of piracy. It follows Captain Flint and characters involved with the crew or Nassau as Captain Flint chases after a shit ton of gold–and then turns to a power struggle on pirate freedom.

Review: This is a very very good show. The first season is a little….clearly trying to attract the straight man audience but then it starts to get gay and the women get very powerful. There are many gay characters and (with the exception of one) they all survive! One of the strongest characters is a queer black woman who came from a slave start (before the show) and ended up so powerful (and spoilers: she doesn’t die).

The characters are all nuanced and interesting and it is a very good show. The action scenes are tight and exciting. The relationships are so good (and a lot are gay which is what a lot of y’all reading this are looking for haha). The story is good and is not just focused on a hunt for gold. It talks of the problems with England and touches on “othering” (a lot having to do with the queer characters). It’s one big power struggle and it is amazing. There’s also a poly relationship if you’re into that.

There is a significant rape scene right at the beginning of season 1. It is a gang rape scene so please exercise care if you need it. The good news is–it gets better. Rape is not a main point in anything after that, outside of a few throwaway mentions (and i remember a throwaway line about bestiality in the same vein).

Basically: pirates! gay! cool! action!

Summary: This is Tom’s story. Born in the near-future and growing up on the desolate streets of one of the last inner city neighborhoods, he’s a local kingpin before he reaches adolescence. Facing a bleak future, he looks for a way out – and finds it when he’s adopted by a wealthy, well-known family. But what happens when a boy who’s never known innocence gets a second chance at childhood?

Review: Absolutely engaging story.

It’s such an exquisite writing with really advanced characterization and character development. In terms of plot, it’s not grandeur or larger-than-life, but the pacing and the story gradual transformation is so gripping and it’s just pulling you in. The world-building is also absolutely grounded and realistic but also elaborate and creative at the same time. It doesn’t feel like the writer is trying to make an explosive or huge-deal world, but it’s intricate in its own way.

This isn’t exactly “slash” or LGBTQ+ centered story, but I think that’s the best part of it. It’s so normalized in the universe (including polyamory and everything) that it’s not taking you away from the core message of the story. Being queer here isn’t queer.

It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you’re into morality conflict story, this is the one for you. It definitely deserves much bigger recognition.

Hey guys, as some of you may remember, many a moons a go we used to do anthologies (for some good non-profit fun). It’s been a while since we’ve put anything out but this October the four of us (G, roughdrafthero, cattails and myself) thought we’d do something. It was meant to come out on Halloween but well, real life.

Review: The main character is a very sweet boy who is sold by his step father to cover debts. The story has an actual plot and hot sex scenes.
Iosef, the mob boss who keeps Michael is dominating, dangerous, and yet, even when he’s a complete ass, he’s hot.

Title: Dragon at the Bar

Status: Complete
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Mentions of past abuse
Summary: After years of running from a past he’d rather not remember a young Dragonet has no care for mating seasons or mates, but a chance meeting at a bar may change all that.

Review: This story rather surprised me. I thought I was going to read something cliche about dragon’s mating, but it was a rather quirky but sweet story about dragon’s mating. I rather liked the speech pattern in this story. It’s not anything too confusing, but for me it felt like a breath of fresh air, something different and interesting that just adds to the charm. The characters were interesting and the little details woven into the story was quite subtle but engaging. Worldbuilding might seem a little off on how the details are revealed and explained, apparently this particular story was an excerpt to a main story that has not actually been written down yet. I don’t really mind myself though. I urge everyone to check this story out!

Author has indicated that maybe they might post more so looking forward to it! It’s a cute story worth reading. 😀

Length: First book 76k, second book 18k so far
Status: First books complete, second book WIP
Rating: Mature

Summary: Captain Wei Shun’s offer of marriage to Cheng Lan was humiliatingly rejected in front of all members of the royal court. That was ten years ago. Now, the king has given a newly victorious General Wei Shun a special reward for his military service – a slave named Cheng Lan. Lan was born to be a high ranking scholar-official within the king’s court. When accusations of treason destroy his family and he is reduced to slavery, his last hope is a childhood friend who’s love he once scorned.

Shun’s success and popularity has seen him more than one jealous rival in court. The events that lead to Lan’s family’s arrest and execution are fast catching up with him. They will need to negotiate the treachery of the royal court together – if they are to survive.

Review: I love stories in historical settings. It’s always refreshing to see one not set in the West (Europe/America) but in the East (China). This story is not very hardcore. It has a Master/Slave set up but no BDSM setting, the romance is pretty sweet. I like the interplay between the characters. You’d assume a character would act a certain way due to past issues but everyone seems pretty mature. I also like the political setting, it’s interesting and doesn’t go into too much cliche territory.
The first story is complete and the sequel is under way. A nice interesting fic to check out.

Rec: Set Me As a Seal Upon Your Heart

Title: Set Me As a Seal Upon Your Heart
Author: Rave
Format: Online Novel
Published/Free: Free
Length: 30,000 words
Status: Complete
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Explicit sex, not much else, though dub-con is discussed as part of the backstory.
Summary: Cris is a half-demon. Ricky is a priest.

Review: This is extreme RPF AU. RPF is difficult for me to read when I know who the characters actually are, and the narrator of this story is Cristiano Ronaldo – whom I think most people in the world have at least heard of – but he’s called “Cris” throughout the story so it’s easy to forget that it’s not an original work. I’ve never heard of the other guy, and the setting/setup is completely AU. There’s a little soccer, but not much.

This is a really good story. The dialogue is good, the sex is hot (once you get over the fact that one character is a priest – which was a little difficult for me), and the side characters are wonderful – Pepe, Marcelo, Pepe’s terrifying mom, Zizou… side characters can make or break a story for me, if the author seems to have forgotten that anyone else on earth exists besides the two leads, but they’re all well-executed here. As are the leads: Cris is difficult and screwed-up and sometimes a jerk, but still sympathetic; Ricky is almost too good to be true until he gets to show some frustration and doubt near the end. His outburst about God at the end of the story is pure gold. Basically it’s a funny, hot, sweet, sometimes chilling, always well-written piece, and I highly recommend it.

Edit: Upon closer examination of the tags I have discovered that “Ricky” is in fact Kaká. I am an idiot. Still, since he’s called by a different name in the story it shouldn’t be a problem for any RPF-phobes like me.
